If you’d have told me yesterday that today JK Rowling would announce that she was writing a screenplay for a movie based in the Harry Potter world, I wouldn’t have believed you. Well, it’s happening. JK Rowling is actually writing a movie based on the Hogwarts textbook, Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them!
It seems a strange idea for a movie series, but the more I think about it, the more I like it. JK has always said that Harry’s story is done. And I quite agree. I just finished Deathly Hallows again last week and it’s such a complete tale. There really isn’t much more we need to know about Harry’s story.
However, a movie based on Newt Scamander, the fictional author, is certainly something we’d never have guessed. We’ll be able to see the Wizard World before Harry was even thought of. And it all begins in New York. How amazing is it to picture wizards in New York? I can just picture the film starting with a young man sat at an apartment window recounting the tales of how he met all this fantastic creatures.
There is certainly a lot to think about when it comes to this film (or film series?!). Details are pretty slim too. No idea of when we’ll be able to see it. But the magic lives on. I can’t wait! PS, I really hope they make LEGO sets based on it.
