We’ve all got problems. There’s always something bothering us, it’s only human. I’ve had a bit of a rough time today, which I’m not going into. I put my problem next to other people’s, and it puts the whole thing into perspective. I’m over it. I’ve decided though that all my problems could would just float away if I could play that new SimCity game.

The thing is, that’s a problem in itself. I made the decision a couple of years ago to switch from Windows to Mac. I don’t regret that at all, but the Mac version of SimCity isn’t out yet, and won’t be for a few more weeks. Not a real problem, but it’s painful watching the internet blow up about the game and knowing I could have to wait until June. Especially when the game released in America yesterday. (In America)
Right now, I’m jealous of all those people who have the game and are playing it. It’s just most of them are kicking off. I’m sure there was a Shakespeare play about this, Much Ado about Nothing. Okay, so the main problem are the servers. People are unable to play the game because of the troubles on the server, and they’re writing the game off already. This is day one, of course the servers are overloaded! Chill out, give it a day or two and everything will be perfect.
The next thing that people are complaining about because people just love to complain is that the game has to ‘always be online’. Now, this is a bit of a bummer if you’ve just bought the game and have no internet connection, but it wasn’t some big secret. They’ve said from the start it was going to be this way. And who plays PC games and DOESN’T have an internet connection these days?! Is it partly copy protection, is it to improve the gameplay, who can say?
Those two issues, I get. They’re somewhat valid. But then there are people actually moaning about the game. I read a website with two grown man complaining about curved roads and lack of terrain in the game. Seriously?! Maybe they should just go play SimCity 4 or something, I don’t know. I can’t grasp why you’d keep playing the game if something as simple as that can ruin what looks like the best game of the year.
It sucks so much reading tweet after tweet, Facebook wallposts and even blogs like this one hate on something I’d love to be playing right now. Server issues suck, I know that, I predicted it. From my limited knowledge on the subject, I get it, I can forgive it. Maybe when I get the Mac version and it’s happening for me it’ll be a different story.
There are people out there who are a million times for excited to play the game than I am, and they’re having issues playing the game, and even losing saves. It blows. Then you get the people who aren’t having the issues but are moaning about not being able to change the terrain. The game’s city could be as flat as a pancake and I’m sure I’d still play the heck of it when I finally get my hands on it in the next few months.
Is that a screenshot from SimCity? I never really quite understood the gameplay/story of SimCity like what a player is actually supposed to do. I bought DVD sometime ago only to figure out that the DVD was damaged. The shop didn’t have another copy so I had to replace with another game.
