Predicting the Playstation 4

Tomorrow they announce the future of the Playstation brand. They’re probably going to show off the PS4, and it’s features that I won’t even care about. All I really want is a huge push with crossplay on the Vita. I want to be able to play a game on my Playstation, then transfer my save over to a Vita and keep playing on the go.

You see, sometimes I go outside. Sometimes. And sometimes, well all the time, when I got a spare 30 minutes I’d love to be able to whip out a Vita and have the exact same experience I have on a home console, but on the go. It’s not like I have a Vita or anything (I’m waiting for that much needed price drop) but I would buy one in a heartbeat if it did that.

Now, I know there is stuff going on like this at the moment. Certain games do have crossplay, but it needs to be everything. I really hope this is Playstation 4′s big feature. Aside from that, I’m not too fussed. As we’ve seen many times before in the past, they system can be the best thing since sliced bread, but if it has no games or is too costy, it’s worthless.

And that’s where the Playstation 4 has nail it. It not only has to launch with a great set of launch games, but have enough titles to pull it through the next year. Look at Nintendo, the Wii U launched with a range of games, but now there’s just nothing for it. The Playstation 4 can’t make that mistake.

Price wise, the PS3 was so expensive at launch. It turned most buyers off instantly. Unlike Nintendo, I have faith that Sony will fix their mistake this time about, not that we will hear anything about the price tomorrow. I’d be very surprised if they announce a firm release date, a price or any games for it. I’m expecting hardware only. We’ll see the fancy new controller, and I’m sure I’ll finish it watching it wanting one.

I haven’t even owned a Playstation 3 for a month yet, and I’m already talking like I know and should care about Sony. The truth is, I just love videogames. I love the industry, I can’t wait to see what Sony have to show, and same goes for the new Xbox. For us Brits, it’s all going to go down at 11pm tomorrow. Be there, or be square. Or triangle, or circle. Playstation jokes.
