One of the DS games I have the happiness memories playing, Pokémon games aside, is New Super Mario Bros. for the Nintendo DS. The game was released on the 30th June (a very special day, yes?) 2006 and that game made me fall in love with my DS all over again.
Everyone things that the DS is such an awesome console, but let’s remember it never really had the best start. The titles at launch never really held me attention, no offence WarioWare Touched or Super Mario 64 DS. After a few months, my DS started to, and I really hate having to use this phrase, gather dust. That was until I went on a cannel boat holiday on a boat named after a Rolling Stones song and I rediscovered my DS. I played Brain Training and New Super Mario Bros and I just fell in love with the DS all over again. And now the rest is history.
The game wasn’t the hardest, or the longest game. Or it wasn’t the most original title. But it was new, it’s was bright and colourful and had catchy music that had me humming it for hours even after I finished playing. And the Chris in 2006 just loved getting all those star coins. Today is the day that New Super Mario Bros. 2 was released for the 3DS. I’ve only played an hour or two, but everything I love about the first game is back, and I’m looking forward to playing a lot more.

I remember when the Mario Brothers first arrived in the 80′s…..great memories.
I wasn’t even born then so I can’t relate I’m afriad!
no prob! thanks for hitting that part of my brain!
I was very tempted to pick up the New Super Mario Bros. 2 (especially wanted to try buying the game via the Nintendo eShop!), but I was cleaning out my drawer and found the original New Super Mario Bros. I totally completely forgot I had it as a gift and never finished it.
So, it’s fair to say that I’m quite obsessed with it! I’m not the best at Mario, but it completely filled that need of picking up the new game! :]
