I get that Taylor Swift isn’t everyone’s cup of tea. I understand that, you could even go so far as to say I respect it. What I don’t get is when people say she can’t sing, or can’t write good songs, when both of those, are so true.
A lot of my favourite Taylor songs are her unreleased ones. At the moment, I’m in love with ‘The Diary of Me’, and I want point, I’d say ‘Lucky you’ was my favourite Swift song ever. Every now and again, an unreleased song pops up on Tumblr, and I go from discovery, to love. Yesterday, I heard ‘Brought Up That Way’ for the first time. It’s very different, I’ll say that.
On first listen, it sounds like the average Taylor song, but if you listen to the lyrics it’s a lot deeper. So much deeper than any Taylor Swift song before. So deep you could drown in it. I’ve always wanted to say that. It tells the story of Emily, a girl who was bullied, have her heart-broken, and nearly killed. And you say Taylor Swift only sings about boys and her poor love life. You were wrong.
